The American Indian Chamber of Commerce of New Mexico is a Non-profit organization that's vision is to continually advocate for the development of a healthy, self-sufficient, American Indian economy and support business growth through education, sound business ethics & principles, mentorship programs, networking and policy that promotes the well-being of the entire community.
Our vision at the Chamber continually promotes the development of a healthy, self-sufficient American Indian Economy, both on and off the reservation. Our mission is both simple and powerful: “To help Native People achieve successful economic development initiatives while incorporating, strengthening and building upon Tribal Values.”
Our Annual Youth ‘Impact’ Summit is hosted in conjunction with our Annual New Mexico Native American Economic Summit to allow students an experience that provides insight and exposure to the success that exists within our tribal communities and the community at large. The Youth Summit presents learning opportunities through impact sessions on Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Media / IT, Art, STEM fields and community resources available to students. Each of these sessions are created to motivate, encourage and show students how they can become leaders, entrepreneurs, find their passion and make a difference in their community. Our goal is also to promote innovation through ‘The Shark Tank Challenge’ Business/Service Plan competition and foster creativity through the Youth Artist T-shirt Contest. The overall design of the Youth Summit creates an IMPACT by generating boundless opportunity for students to network with tribal leaders, decision makers, successful Native business owners, community partners & resources that lead to scholarships, mentorships, internships and jobs.
Our main goals for the Youth 'Impact' Summit is to promote youth entrepreneurship, by empowering our future leaders and cultivating a sense of harmony in the community through communication & collaboration between the youth and the leadership. We hope that by bringing the community together in this way, every student will walk away with either an internship, mentorship, scholarship, an entrepreneurial award, a job opportunity, networking experience and at the very least, a sense of belonging and acceptance from the community that encourages them to pursue higher education, take on leadership roles and get involved in the community in a positive way. The American Indian Chamber of Commerce of New Mexico (AICCNM) is pleased to present our 10th Annual New Mexico Native American Economic Summit on May 9-11, 2016 at Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town in ‘collaboration’ with the State of New Mexico Indian Affairs Department (IAD) and New Mexico Small Business Development Center Network. Our commitment is to continue educating and leading awareness for Native and Non-Native businesses, Entrepreneurs, Artisans, Tribal Governments, State, Federal Agencies, High School and College Students (3rd Annual Youth ‘Impact’ Initiative Summit) on the numerous resources that are available in the State of New Mexico and Southwest. It has been an honor to present our Annual Economic Summit to our New Mexico constituents, members, clients, business owners, Native American Tribes / Organizations and our Federal, State, Local and Resources Partners as well as visitors from around the Country and Canada. Our Theme this year is "Celebrating 10 Years of Economic Impact: Building Partners for Youth and Indian Country"
More recently, with the overwhelming support of our Small Business Community and Tribal Leadership we are happy to celebrate our 3rd Annual Youth Impact Initiative where we have invited our State's high school and college students to attend our Youth Impact Summit to provide them the opportunity to the experience the insight and exposure to the success that exist within our Tribal Communities and the community at large. As the future of our State's economy, resources, culture and livelihood lie in the hands of today's youth, it is crucial that we provide them with the knowledge, skills and understanding of the value and responsibility that goes into preserving it for the next generations to come. There is a strong need to restore a sense of hope for our future generation in order to empower them to take on leadership roles in the community and assume the roles in a creative, innovative, collaborative, fearless and compassionate manner. The best way we can accomplish this is by bridging the gap in society between the youth and leadership in the community.
We are also excited to announce that we are teaming up with our Local Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) to promote and spur economic development, create jobs and provide business opportunities within our local, Tribal, regional and national business communities by developing a 2016 Procurement & Matchmaking Fair – where buyers and sellers of products and services will be available to meet one-on-one with Tribal Business, Federal Development Corporations, Tribal Organization and minority and Native-owned small businesses during our Summit.
